All network marketers struggle from lack of motivation several times a year. There are days when you feel confident about yourself, and sign new prospects by the dozen, there are other times when nobody wants to talk to you and you feel really down and frustrated. You feel like wanting to take the day, or even the week off. Thoughts of quitting the business also cross your mind. It is on days such as these when you really have to be strong and keep yourself motivated.

Why is it so important to stay motivated as a Network Marketer?
When you are motivated as a network marketer, your work seems so much easier. You can do a lot in minimal time, unlike someone who is not really motivated. Prospecting, recruiting, selling – everything appears easy to a motivated marketer. If you are not motivated, you are just wasting time.

Don’t let the negativity get you down…
Here’s what you should ask yourself – why are you in the business? You’re probably in it to earn a decent income for yourself, to make things easier for your family. You love network marketing and appreciate what the business has to offer. Yes, it is often painful to hear prospects saying negative things about your business. It’s easy to get disheartened when your team members talk of quitting and criticize the business. You will have to develop a thick skin here and focus on your goals and what you wish to achieve. Shake off the negativity, and remember why you are in the business in the first place.

What’s your vision?
Every marketer should have a larger vision that is bigger than himself or herself. People get into network marketing for selfish reasons, but eventually, as they spend time on it, recruit their own teams, they become leaders who help other people do well in the business. That can be a great motivation to have – to train other people to succeed and make something of their lives.

Work hard on your personal development
You should invest in yourself. Read popular self-help books, watch inspirational DVDs and listen to great music. Make it a point to read at least a couple of books in a month. Learn something new all the time.

Attend networking events
Attending networking events is a great way to find new prospects for your business. They also leave you excited, fully charged and raring to go. You will come out of these events super motivated and ready to take your business to new heights.

Be realistic about your goals
It is very important to be realistic about your goals. You shouldn’t set a goal of making a six-figure income in your first year as a network marketer – that is simply impossible. It takes years before people make that sort of money from an MLM business. Setting unrealistic goals will only cause you to get disenchanted with the business when you fail to achieve them. Set easily achievable small goals that are well within your reach. Celebrate each milestone achieved with your family. This will keep you motivated for the long term.
