“I need to think about it” Objection - 4 Best Tips to Change Your Prospect’s Mind

You have just given a brilliant presentation about the MLM opportunity to a prospect. You’re feeling great, on top of the world. You know you have done a great job and hit all the right buttons. You have built a relationship with the prospect, made a compelling closing statement. How could anyone say “no” to your offer?

But here’s the problem – your prospect does not exactly say “no” but comes out with the extremely frustrated “I need to think about it” objection. Yes – this is perhaps the most frustrating objection most of us face as network marketers and the worst part is, we are left confused about the prospect’s true intention as they don’t say a flat “no” to the offer.
So how can a young and ambitious network marketer deal with the “I need to think about it” objection? Let’s find out!

Tip #1. How not to handle the objection
Here’s how not to handle the “I need to think about it” objection. This is important because if you handle it the wrong way or come across as flustered or desperate, you’ll have lost your prospect forever.
Don’t ask, for instance, “What’s there to think about?” – That would make you come across as rude and mocking the prospect’s intelligence.
Don’t ask, “Are there any more questions?” either. You are a network marketer, not a customer support rep. You are building a business – always remember that.
Don’t say, “Let me know when you reach a decision, okay?” When you say that, you lose control of the situation and it is unlikely that the prospect will get in touch with you with an answer.

Tip #2. Face the Objection
The best way to deal with the “I need to think about it” objection is to face it. Ask in a nice but firm way and never come across as even remotely threatening – this is very important. Ask if the prospect really seen an opportunity with you.  Ask politely if they truly see an opportunity and only need time to be sure about it, or are just saying because he or she is such a nice person and does not want to upset you in any way. Tell them that you won’t be upset, it’s all a part of the business and that you would really like to know their true opinion.

Tip 3. Call them out on it
If they continue to insist, “I need to think about it”, then call them out as gently as possible. Tell them how you’re a part of serious business and have lots of people waiting to join it, and how time is money for you. Tell them how important it is for you to prioritize your time and not to waste it on those who are not really serious about the opportunity. Ask them to think about it and find out if it’s truly the right fit for them, take all the time they need and to get back to you later if they feel joining your team is the right thing to do. Be as polite and gentle as you say this, but stress on the fact that you only work with serious people.

#Tip 4. Be Helpful and be Professional
Now that you have said what you’ve had to say, it’s time to take a step back and listen to the prospect and overcome any other objection they may have about the business. Answer their questions politely and give them the information they seek. Ask them to get in touch with you later, if they happen to make up their mind and so that you can schedule a meeting with them. You are a professional, and that’s how you should project yourself as.
